… who me?!

Hi.

I’m going to be honest with you here, I have never been great at these “About Me!” type things. I’m Shelby. Sometimes Shelbs, but only if I like you. I’m no longer in my 20s, but I’m learning to like my 30s. Not that I’ve been in my 30s for all that long, I’ll have you know.

I’m opinionated. Sarcastic. If you can’t handle opinionated and/or sarcastic, then stop reading. I don’t go out of my way to be mean, but I do have a tendency to call a spade a spade. I don’t write for you, I write for me. If you don’t want to hear about the boring shit that goes on in my life, stop reading! :) There are plenty of fascinating (and less-than-fascinating) blogs out there you can go read instead.

I have strange addictions. Like World of Warcraft and Second Life. I also really thoroughly enjoy crafting WordPress themes. Sometimes, when the mood strikes me, I even share them.

…the domain

sleepswithbutterflies.net was registered on August 8, 2008 (8.8.08) via GoDaddy. Currently, it is also hosted on GoDaddy.

The domain name has its origins in a song with the same title (-.net) by Tori Amos. I’ve been in love with her music since first being introduced to it in 1993.

The little pink angelic emoticons in use all over the place are by Like Honey, and I absolutely love them, so thank you. I’d also like to thank all of the plugin authors who make my WP install so much more manageable, and sometimes just downright fun. There are a bunch of you.

… comments

1. Comments are encouraged and welcomed. Whether you agree or disagree, I’d love to hear what you have to say, as long as you can say it without being a douchebag.

2. Comments made on this blog become the property of the owner of this blog. I will approve, deny, reject, delete, etc at my sole discretion. Once you have one approved comment, you will be automatically approved in the future, unless or until you abuse that privilege, in which case you will be banned from further commenting.

3. Your email address will never, ever, ever be used for any nefarious purpose, but it is required to post a comment. I will not sell you out to the spammers, I swear!

4. My blog is not your blog. There is no hard-and-fast length rule at all, however if you are going to break apart a post I’ve written piece by piece in excruciating detail, perhaps the best thing to do is to trackback from your own blog. ;)

…do I really need a privacy policy?!

In the past, I have had to deal with some very scary/upset/stalker-type people, so if you know me well, please refrain from using any personally identifying information about me here. If you know me well, and haven’t been invited here, could you please leave now? ;) If you choose to disregard this particular request, and you get your feelings hurt by something you read here, all I can say is I am sorry, but you were warned.

As far as the privacy of others, I can only state that 99.9% of the time on this blog, the names are changed to protect the innocent guilty, and that whole names are never used, unless of course I’m talking about public figures. ;)
